The Survey of Management Practices™ (SMP) is a multi-rater assessment that provides managers with feedback on their management skills and practices. Managers are responsible for implementing strategies within the organization and achieving operating goals. They also have a major responsibility for maintaining the organization's quality of working life. The SMP gives the manager feedback on the skills that make a difference from the people who observe them every day. The Management Practices Task Cycle® follows the Task Cycle Theory, a model that has been researched for more than 30 years.
The Phases and Dimensions in the Survey of Management Practices measure the manager's ability to set goals, plan, problem solve and provide feedback. A separate section, Interpersonal Relations, presents data on the manager's working relationships. The last forty-five questions of the SMP are the Survey of Group Motivation and Morale. This "survey within a survey" measures the effect that the individual manager's skills has upon employee attitudes.
